Getting out of Hibernation!
Spring Reset: Life Lately (Spring 2026)
There’s something about the start of spring that always feels like a quiet reset.
Not the loud, goal-setting kind you get in January—but a softer shift. One where life starts moving again whether you planned for it or not.
Lately, I’ve been noticing it in small, everyday ways.
I went to bed at 9:30 last night—rare for me—and still woke up at 5:45. And every year around this time, it happens. My body just… wakes up earlier. The light creeps in sooner, the mornings feel different, and suddenly sleeping until 6:30 or 7 feels like a winter habit I can’t quite hold onto anymore.
I don’t know if it’s the season, hormones, or just life adjusting—but spring definitely has its own rhythm.

The in-between season is real
It’s that time of year where you leave the house in a parka and boots…
and by mid-day you’re overheating in 18–20 degree weather wondering why you didn’t switch sooner.
The heat’s off at home, but somehow everything feels drier—lips, skin, even your nose.
Is it allergies? A lingering cold? No one really knows.
It’s not quite winter, not quite summer. Just… in between.
How to Cope:
- Always suggest making ‘season-changing’ soups like my Night Flowering Blossom Cereus Soup as a way to help our bodies transition to the new season!
- I also swear by vaseline wherever you have dry spots. My facial lady, Winnie always reminds me it’s not a moisturizer though! So always do it AFTER your skincare routine! It’s a moisture barrier NOT a moisturizer!
- LAYERS – so many people get sick from the change in weather – we’re too hot and then get too cold and our bodies have a hard time readjusting! While I look silly, I swearby a scarf well into Spring!
We’re coming out of hibernation
There’s a shift socially too.
More texts.
More “we should get together soon.”
More actual follow-through.
After months of staying in, there’s this natural pull to go out again—dinners, walks, quick catch-ups that somehow feel easier now that the days are longer.
Even evenings feel different. The light lingers, and suddenly 8pm doesn’t feel like the end of the day. My gf Kathy and I checked out this adorable cafe in Scarborough, Phin Cafe Bar.

Little signs of life (literally)
I planted my tomatoes way too early this year.
I know that.
But I don’t regret it.
There’s something about seeing green—inside the house, on the windowsill—that just lifts everything. It’s a reminder that something is growing again, even if it’s still too early outside.

Getting back into routines (but lighter)
Spring always nudges me back into movement.
Not in an intense, “new year, new me” way—but more like:
- going to the gym again
- trying something different (like rock climbing)
- just wanting to move more because it feels good
- Also been eating more salads and snacking on fresh vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, arugula
- more walks with Oreo
- I’ve also become super focussed on mental and cognitive health including drinking creatine and finding ways to prevent Alzhiemer’s as per this post shared on Diary of a CEO.
It’s less pressure, more energy.

Planning ahead (without the stress… yet)
This is also the season where summer starts quietly taking shape.
You start thinking about:
- trips
- camps
- time off
- how you want the next few months to feel
Nothing is fully booked yet, but it’s there in the background—like a slow build.
A different kind of reset
Spring doesn’t demand big changes.
It just creates space for them.
You sleep a little differently.
You go out a little more.
You start caring about things like plants, plans, and fresh air again.
And somehow, without forcing it, life starts to feel lighter.
