Was quite certain it’d be a girl based on all the differences I experienced during this pregnancy; but we are very happy to have a baby brother/best friend for Ethan and another little buddy around the house

One of the differences I have had recently is horrible heartburn!! Ginger is now my best friend! I cannot believe how quickly it alleviates the heartburn and on a scale of 1-10 this feels like a 10 in discomfort!

I cannot keep coughing cuz the burning sensation reaches my throat!

Ive also read that avocados may either cause or alleviate heartburn…awful!

Now that I’m pregnant through the freezing winter months, I’m at a loss of what to wear every morning…thank goodness I get to work from home for the majority of the week but still!

Thank goodness for the Internet…hopefully these can inspire me to shop at less expensive options and make due with what I have…first things first: I need to invest in a really pretty silk/satin ribbon:

I’m officially 12 weeks pregnant with #2 (hoping its a girl but understand if its a boy Ethan will have a very best friend for life). My problem this time around is that I will be pregnant for the entire Winter and working in the Corporate world. I was lucky enough to carry Ethan throughout the Summer and worked at a very lax place where I could get away with maxi dresses! This time, I must buy some maternity clothes…I not only dread this because the selection at Thyme maternity feel like better tailored clothes from Walmart…but the selection is very limited and boring…and frankly, I don’t want to look like every other prego woman out there…if we only have Thyme Maternity to choose from, how different can we all look? SOoo i’m going online…

So far i’ve found:

horrible nausea, fatigue, backache, cramps, food aversions, cravings, elevated temps, the whole 9 yards!

Boo! To make matters worse, hubby wanted to take me to Baton Rouge, a “better restaurant” than our typical chinese restauant. Unfortunately I ended up getting food poisoning! Horrible! Baby Ethan got it too…not nearly as severe as me: 5 hrs throwing up only relieved with an meds via IV…damn those bacon wrapped scallops! It was violent. Upside? Doctor did an ultrasound and baby is ok

Amazing how quickly time flies!! Ethan has learned so much since my last post!

- counting 1-10 in Chinese
- forms sentences “grandpa drives to choo choo train to pick up grandma!”
- he can throw, brushes his teeth, knows A-F

We have now started to potty train him this week and I think its going well. Its so fascinating how they learn and the process of exploring that comes with it! We have the Fischer Price singing potty (which I must say is very loud) and it has a small cup that helps cover/catch the boys peepee and he won’t stop touching it and ends up peeing everywhere! Its actually quite funny but at the same time I’m very cautious in the way we react to anything (don’t want to create any Freudian behaviours!). First day he would pee what seemed like every 5 mins (think its because he wasn’t used being so bare) and now he’s able to hold it a bit longer (drink his bottle, walk the dog) and last night he even told daddy he was peeing and daddy managed to “catch” some in the potty (hurray!)

What a journey!

It’s a remarkable thing becoming a mommy. You’ll never experience love like this, frustration like this, relief like this and most of all reward like this. Nothing is more gratifying than that first “mama” in the morning, or the simple hug and kiss for no reason when he has yet to learn how to tie his shoes. In this last year and ½ I’ve seen my little man grow from being completely dependent on me to tugging me everywhere so he can show me what he’s most recently discovered!
The ‘heart attacks’ have yet to cease – though his motor skills are quite advanced that we don’t worry about his ability to walk, hubby and I will find him climbing on just about everything and we’re just waiting for the day we’ll have to race to the ER for a broken arm/leg…’boys will be boys?”
As many of you know, (Angie, you may be the only one who reads this…if you’re not too busy these days! LOL) I’ve returned to work and I believe being a mother, I am now better equipped to deal with many of the workplace issues and feel as though I have a better appreciation of both worlds – one of a mother and one as a mother/wife. I love my time with my son and at the same time really enjoy having my break from mommy and venture out everyday into the working world where I am known as just me. In these last couple months having returned to work, I have started to explore different areas I to further develop myself…how can I further challenge myself while still being a dedicated mom/wife? Hmm…
Brainstorming.

Now that I’m fully immersed back into the work scene, I’ve changed careers (more specifically, changed back) and I’m on my way to climbing the corporate ladder…only problem is, I feel myself neglecting Baby Ethan! Both sets of grandparents have been more than willing to take Ethan at the mere suggestion that it’s become way to easy to rely on them for his primarily parenthood…yikes! In addition, hubby’s own business is doing incredibly well and he’s just as busy as I am…have we just come full circle? Striving to make more money for ‘the best of our children’ just like our parents had when our grandparents/friends/family raised us? Does more money for toys, bigger house, financial freedom really make that much of a difference to young Ethan? Who knows…eeps, this is way too deep!

Check out what I scored at Sporting Life Outlet today:

Been a while since I last posted and boy has Ethan changed over the months! He’s still not really talking but he’s more familiar/responsive understanding us:

knows how to nod for certain foods – specifically Multigrain Cheerios

understands bed time, going to take a bath, get ready to drink milk (runs to the couch, climbs onto it and sits ready for his milk bottle), knows plane, doggie, bears, nose, eye, mouth, ears

LOVES cars and to dance

We were lucky enough to visit our relatives in Calgary over the Christmas holidays and even luckier when my parents stayed with him while I returned to work early. Unfortunately he came back with a cold his worst one yet – tons of coughing, congestion and downright boogers! He lost a ton of weight too…poor little bugger…

I’ve also started a new job downtown which means more money but more opportunities for SHOPPING!! Since I started in December…I’ve already bought 2 pairs of boots and a pair for Ethan. How cute is this:

Ethan's Sorels

These are for me :

Mommy's Hunters

I’m not a huge fan of Sorels but after speaking with a colleague who mentioned the need for them as a mommy (tobogganing in the soon future), I couldn’t pass up these YOUTH Sorels…I like the pink flair Now all we need is a pair for Daddy
